Sucrose / スクロース
She was the obvious first pick. Sucrose is quiet, a little awkward, hides behind her glasses and her research. I knew how to do that without acting.
The design is forgiving for a beginner — no armor, no props with moving parts, no six-layer kimono. A cape, a corset, a hat, a pair of round spectacles, and a wig with ears tucked into the hair. The ears are the part people notice. In-game they read as animal ears hidden in plain sight, a detail Sucrose herself tries to conceal. Getting them to sit right in the wig without looking like an afterthought took longer than the rest of the outfit combined.
The wig
Light mint green, chin-length in front, hip-length at the back, with a single pale blue streak through the bangs. The color has to land between green and teal without tipping into either — too green reads as grass, too blue reads as Eula. I went with a pre-styled wig and adjusted the streak placement by hand.
The glasses
Round, dark brown frames. They are half the character. Sucrose without her glasses is just a girl in a cape. I used a pair of non-prescription frames sized slightly larger than my face — Sucrose’s glasses sit a little too big on her, which is part of the look.
First plate, first wig, first time figuring out what to do with my hands.
