Makima / マキマ
Makima is an exercise in restraint. The costume is almost nothing — white button-down, black slacks, a loose tie, the braids. You add any one thing you don’t need and the whole image tips over into cosplay-photo territory. She has to look like she’s about to ask you a question you can’t answer.
We shot in a stairwell because I wanted the fluorescent overhead and the cement walls. No warmth. No color but the hair.

Expression
This is the whole thing. I spent most of the shoot practicing not-smiling. There’s a specific tilt — head slightly to the right, eye contact steady, mouth neutral but not closed — that reads as Makima. When I got it right, Khánh stopped talking for about a minute and just shot through the sequence.
The shoot ran 45 minutes. We kept eight frames.
